Mr. Jonathan Rickman

Mr. Rickman received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Texas State University in San Marcos. Mr. Rickman frequently tours throughout Texas performing Big Band Era Swing, Latin Jazz, Merengue, Salsa, Soul, Funk, Tejano, and Rock, as well as many classical styles with Symphonies and brass quintets throughout Central and South Texas. Mr. Rickman has been featured as a guest artist for the Texas State University Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Orchestra on several occasions.

Mr. Rickman has served as Director of Bands at BMSN since 2013 where he was elected as the 2015 Teacher of the Year.  Mr. Rickman previously served in San Marcos CISD as Director of Marching and Director of Jazz, as well as conducting a competing concert band, before becoming the Director of Bands for Devine ISD.  Mr. Rickman was named as one of eight national quarterfinalist nominees from Texas for the 2019 Grammy Music Educator Award. 

Mr. Rickman enjoys spending time with his lovely wife Kara, who is also an educator and musician, and their two beautiful daughters named Kennedi and Presleigh. The family enjoys their time together at their ranch home, playing with their Australian Shepard, "Bailey",  and taking trips in their Jeep.
