Colonel Colvard enlisted in the Air Force in 1986 and served as a Precision Measurement Equipment Specialist for the first 10 years of his career while he completed his bachelor’s degree at Wayland Baptist University primarily through evening courses after duty hours. He attended Officer Training School and received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in 1996.  Colonel Colvard lived in 13 different locations across the US and Europe and deployed to 14 different foreign countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.  As a career Aircraft Maintenance Officer, he spent seven years in Command leading four different combat-coded units.  He also worked on staff at three headquarters, including 3-years at the Pentagon, serving on the Headquarters Air Force staff as the functional manager for his career field.
