Mr. Jason Younts

Mr. Younts is entering his 14th year of Full-time teaching and his third as the Head Band Director at Champion High School. Prior to coming to Champion, Mr. Younts was the Director of Bands for Fredericksburg ISD 2018-2020 and spent seven years on the Band Staff in Fredericksburg. Over the years, Mr. Younts has served on several School, District, and State Committees serving his students and stakeholders. Students of Mr. Younts have enjoyed great success competitively, including 2022 Invited Performing Ensemble at The Western International Band Clinic, 2023 Performing Ensemble UIL State Wind Ensemble Festival, 2023 Invited Performing Ensemble YOSA Invitiational, 2019 State Winners of the ATSSB Outstanding Performer Series Concert Competition, 2019 3rd Place of the ATSSB Outstanding Performer Series March Competition, set State Record for most students in the All-State Jazz Ensemble (4) in a year, FISD Record for All-State Band Chair Winners (9), multiple appearances in the 4A UIL State Marching Competition Finals, and consistently the most number of students winning chairs in Region Band Competitions. More importantly, Mr. Younts' students are empowered with Foundational Skills through a curriculum of positive culture, communication, and focused skill-building. Foundational Skills include professional communication, teamwork, problem solving, and community building skills, all of which students can apply to any career they pursue after High School. 

Mr. Younts holds professional memberships in TMEA, TMAA, TMAC, TAJE, TBA, and Texas Exes.

When not at the Band Hall, Mr. Younts enjoys spending time with his wonderful wife, Stephanie, and two incredible children Ella (11) and Addy (7). Additionally, Mr. Younts is an active learner, reader, musician, and self-taught chef.
