Mr. Jonathan Tate

Coach Tate is currently serving as the head cross country coach and assistant track coach as well as teaching AP World History. He is starting his 16th year in Boerne and his 27th year overall. Coach Tate worked at Robinson High School for 9 years before coming to Boerne. His first two years were spent at Lorena High School. Coach Tate received his BS from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX.

Coach Tate is married to Tanya, who serves as the Director of Curriculum in Lytle ISD. They have two children, McKayla and Owen. McKayla is a senior at The University of Texas in Austin while Owen is a freshman at Texas Tech.

On the coaching side he has served as the head cross country coach for the last 7 years. Before that he served as the head girls basketball coach at Champion. In his tenure as cross country coach the boys and girls have won a combined 13 out of 14 district championships. The girls XC team finished as state champions in 2019 and 2020 and silver medalists in 2018 and 2021. The boys were third place in the state in 2019 and second place in 2020.

As girls basketball coach, Tate led his teams into the post season in all 11 years he served in that role. In his 8 years in Boerne his teams won 2 district championships (2007 and 2009). 

Before coming to Boerne, Coach Tate served as head girls basketball coach, head cross country coach and head track coach at Robinson High School. His cross country teams there qualified for the state meet 5 times. The girls track team there won 6 consecutive district championships while he was involved as a head coach or assistant coach.
