Larissa has been an educator for 17 years, all of which have been with Pharr San Juan Alamo ISD in San Juan, Texas.
She is the youngest in her family and grew up on the family ranch in deep South Texas. Her upbringing is where she learned the importance of a strong work ethic and knows the importance of building relationships. Her focus has always been in making sure that educating and caring for the child positively is foremost in every decision that is made. Every position she has held has given her the opportunity to gain more knowledge, experience and love for educating and developing the mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing of every child.
Surprisingly, education was not her initial career choice. With her Communications degree, she aspired to be a broadcast journalist, but her path led her in a different direction. She began teaching Journalism at PSJA High School in 2002; promoted to Assistant Principal at PSJA High in 2007; then was named the Principal of Ballew High School in 2012. Under her leadership, Ballew High School became an Early College High School, and this is where she helped her students of different ages meet their graduation requirements and connect them to college. Most recently, she was the Principal at Stephen F. Austin Middle School where her students and staff have received numerous academic distinctions from TEA.
Larissa is married to Azael “AZ” Flores, a longtime resident of Boerne and she has a 15-year old son, Ryan. She is now a full-time resident of Boerne and the newest member of the Boerne ISD family.
