Distribution of Funds
BEF returns money to Boerne ISD in the following ways:
Fall Campus Disbursements
Each year, the Boerne Education Foundation allocates a substantial portion of its distributions to provide each school with funding on a per capita basis. These funds are an important supplement to the budget of each campus and are used to fund much-needed supplies, purchase new technology and provide continuing education for teachers.
Teacher Innovation Grants
Boerne Education Foundation Teacher Innovation Grants (TIGs) are funded to transform classroom experiences in order to develop future leaders through critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
Teachers complete an application process at the beginning of the school year and the grants are awarded before Thanksgiving with the intent to have the grants in the classroom by January. The grants are reviewed in a blind process by committee members of the Boerne Education Foundation board.
Permanent Endowment
A percentage of the annual net income of the Boerne Education Foundation may be reserved and maintained perpetually in a Permanent Endowment Fund. The annual income from the Permanent Endowment Fund, or any part thereof, may be used for any purpose of the Foundation or re-invested in the Permanent Endowment Fund to allow for future critical needs.
District-Wide Initiatives
A percentage of the annual net income of the Boerne Education Foundation may be reserved to provide educational resources over and above Boerne ISD’s normal operating budget, as requested by the Boerne ISD administration, to address evolving educational needs on a district-wide basis.
