Qualifying Life Events (QLEs)
You cannot add, change, or cancel your benefit coverages for the plan year unless you have a change in family status. Human Resources must receive notification in writing within 30 days of the status change.
IRS-specified changes in family status include:
- Change in legal married status
- Change in number of dependents, such as birth, adoption, death, or change in child custody
- Termination or commencement of employment, i.e., change in employment status
- Dependent satisfies or ceases to satisfy dependent eligibility requirements
- Change in residence or worksite that affects eligibility for coverage
