Mr. Tommy Hungate

Tommy Hungate graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in the fall of 1990 and began teaching in 1991 as a spring replacement for a PE teacher and coach at O ‘Henry Middle School in Austin, Texas.  Mr. Hungate was then hired at the same school where he completed his student teaching, Covington Middle School in Austin, as a journalism teacher, PE teacher, and coach.  Mr. Hungate worked at Covington for two years before his wife was transferred to San Antonio where she was born and raised.

Mr. Hungate was fortunate to spend the next 13 years at Rudder Middle School in Northside ISD teaching journalism, STEM, Business, PE, and coaching.  While at Rudder, he began his Masters program at UTSA and completed his Masters in Educational Leadership in the fall 2006.  A few months later, Mr. Hungate was hired here at Boerne Middle School North as Assistant Principal.  At that time BMSN was a 7th – 9th grade campus.

BMSN became a 7th-8th grade campus when BHS reopened in 2009.  In the spring of 2010, Mr. Hungate was given the opportunity and honor of a lifetime to become the next principal of Boerne Middle School North.  BMSN converted to a 6th-8th campus in 2015, and it currently serves over 850 students.  This is currently his 11th year at BMSN and his 8th year as BMSN principal.  Mr. Hungate is very proud of the students and staff, and extremely proud to be the principal of a campus where academics, behavior, character, relationships, and 100% Purple Pride are a daily focus.

BMSN is a very special place with the hardest working group of teachers ever in his 26 years in education.  Mr. Hungate is proud to be at BMSN.

Mr. Daniel Owen

I am so excited to begin my 4th year as Assistant Principal of Boerne Middle School North. I want to share my story with you so that you have an idea of who I am and where I’ve journeyed in the education world.  In 2008, I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Family & Consumer Science.  In May 2014, I completed my Master’s Degree in Educational Administration at Texas A&M Kingsville.

I began my educational career at Pleasanton Junior High in 2009 as a Special Education teacher, science teacher, and coach. I first taught 7th grade science and was then asked to move to teach STAAR-tested 8th grade science.  I became the 8th grade Science Department Chair in 2012, and was humbled and honored to receive the Distinguished Junior High Educator of the Year Award that same year. In July of 2012, I was selected by the campus hiring committee to serve as the Assistant Principal at Pleasanton Junior High while completing my Masters. As Pleasanton Assistant Principal from 2012-2015, I gained the valuable experience necessary to positively transition and work for an exemplary district such as Boerne ISD. It is an honor and privilege to serve the students, parents, teachers, and community of Boerne.
