What is your favorite part of your position?
My favorite part is building relationships with students, staff, and the community. Ultimately, it's all about the students! I also hope to inspire students to become the best version of themselves while at BMSN and to grow to become valuable, contributing, positive members of our society.

Tell us about your family and pets:
I am the proud father of two amazing little girls, Isla 7 and Georgia 5; both attend Fabra Elementary. I am also the husband of Leigh Owen, Director of Development and Fundraising at the Cibolo Nature Center. She is a wonderful example to all of us by demonstrating a relentless work ethic and still managing to coordinate all family commitments. We refer to the Owen family as “Team Chaos” because we have so many things going on each day. However, with Leigh calling the shots, it’s truly a controlled Chaos and we manage to survive each day because of her.

What do you like to do when you're not at school?
We love to be outside! Any activities that involve the outdoors are fun. I like to hunt, fish, and work on my property as much as possible but spending time with my family and friends in any capacity is wonderful.

What was your favorite subject in school?
Science was my favorite academic subject but I enjoyed playing Baseball & Football the most. I feel like I developed my passion for leadership while under the influence of amazing teachers and coaches. They inspired me to be the person I am today.

What is your favorite book?
Tom Clancy's series: The Hunt for Red October (1984) Patriot Games (1987) The Cardinal of the Kremlin (1988) Clear and Present Danger (1989) The Sum of All Fears (1991) Without Remorse (1993) Debt of Honor (1994) Executive Orders (1996

Mr. Beshea was then offered an opportunity to return to Boerne ISD by becoming the 8th grade Algebra 1 Pre-AP teacher at Boerne Middle School North.  With his teaching experience at the high school level he was quickly able to challenge students to strive to be their best.  While at BMSN he began and completed his Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington.  During his years at BMSN he was an administrative intern, NJHS sponsor, UIL coach for: Mathematics, Calculator Applications and Number Sense, a Site Based Decision Making Committee member, and a Student Health Advisory Committee member.

While he taught 8th Grade Mathematics and 8th Grade Algebra 1 Pre-AP he became a member of the Southwest Texas STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) Center of San Antonio.  This group was a cohort made of middle and high school mathematics teacher from the greater San Antonio area.  They worked on project based learning curriculum that integrated STEM into middle and high school mathematics lessons.

Kendall Elementary School then hired Mr. Beshea as their Assistant Principal.  He was able to gain valuable experiences during his tenure at KES.  During the course of his time he was well known for the relationships he built with students, staff and community members.  He focused on empowering students to know they can be leaders in the positive direction.

Mr. Beshea was hired to be a BMSN Assistant Principal during the fall of 2018.  He is proud to call BMSN home once more.  He will be using his experiences of being a previous BMSN student and teacher to always encourage all students to be the best they can be.
