Larry Pawlik has been an educator for the last 30 years. After graduating from St. Mary's University with a degree in English he pursued other avenues but answered his calling and received his teaching credentials at Texas A&I Kingsville.  During his career he has taught Middle School English andHigh School Speech & Debate.   He currently teaches English 8 on level and Pre AP classes and is the ELA Dept. Head and Academic U.I.L Coordinator at BMSN. He was the 2013 BMSN Teacher Of The Year.  

He and his wife have two adult children and five grandchildren.  He enjoys spoiling them.  His hobbies include deer hunting, fishing, coin collecting, and BBQing. 

  • Course Description - English 8 Regular

    English 8 Regular curriculum concentrates on a continuation of process essay writing based on the content of reading assignments.  The writing focus includes personal, analytical, and research modes.  Language activities continue building on sentence structure analysis as well as grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation conventions.  Vocabulary acquisition is incorporated through the different genres of the literature studies.  

     

    Course Description - English 8 Pre AP

    English 8 Pre AP curriculum follows a multi-genre approach focusing on higher level thinking skills, analytical reasoning, interpretive writing, and close reading.  Each marking period will include grammar conventions, vocabulary, writing skills, and literature studies.  The literary analysis of literature will be the basis for the study of most objectives.  Writing opportunities include analytical journals, research papers, essays and process papers including literary/style analysis, expository, persuasive and personal writing.  This class will require out of class time for reading and writing assignments.
