Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Susan Giles
Susan Giles’ journey at Fabra has been circuitous and covered almost three decades…including Substitute Teacher, Teaching Assistant, Teacher and Specialist. Her formal education spanned over 50 years, starting at Brigham Young University in 1961 and completing her bachelor degree at University of Texas at San Antonio in 1999. She later completed the national requirements for certification as an Academic Language Therapist in 2009 and her master's in 2012 from Southern Methodist University, with an emphasis on dyslexia.
Her involvement with Boerne schools started when her husband, an Air Force dentist, was assigned to Lackland AFB in 1990. Their 5 children all attended Boerne schools and graduated from Boerne High School. Mrs. Giles started as a room mother and substitute teacher where she fell in love with the teachers, administration, and students. Opportunities for growth and service opened up and she has continued to work, happily, at Fabra for 23 years.
She tests and serves students who have dyslexia, usually during the students’ Focused Instruction time, Monday through Thursday. She is available for parent conferences most Fridays and can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
