Kari McHone has served as an educator for over 24 years and loves teaching young children.  

She grew up in Uvalde, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Curriculum and Instruction, with an Early Childhood Education Endorsement.  Kari has experience teaching 3rd grade, kindergarten and 1st grade.

She has taught in the Boerne Independent School District for 18 years, all of them at Curington Elementary.  Throughout her career, she has served in various capacities, including district vertical teams, grade-level team leader, curriculum writing, and presenting numerous workshops within the district.

Kari strives to challenge her students to think critically and independently while instilling honesty, kindness, responsibility, and respect for others in their everyday lives.  She also hopes to foster a love for reading in each student that enters her classroom.

On a personal note, Kari is happily married to Kimble McHone, who is the Boy's Head Basketball Coach at Boerne High School.  They have two children, Griffin and Ellie. Griffin is the Director of Operations for the Men's Basketball Team at Kennesaw State University. In June, he married his sweet wife, Lexie, and they are starting their married life together in Kennesaw, Georgia. Ellie graduated from Texas A&M University in May and is starting her first year as a Kindergarten teacher at Fabra Elementary in Boerne ISD. When she is not teaching, Kari loves cheering for the Boerne Greyhounds and the Texas Aggies. She also loves to read realistic fiction, shop, and spend time with family and friends.
