Mrs. Karla Gonzales

Karla Bohnert Gonzales, a proud descendant of three Kendall County founding families, received a BA in Communications from Angelo State University in 1993, and returned to obtain her degree in History in 1996.  For the past twenty-five years, Mrs. Gonzales has enjoyed sharing her passion and love for history with students at the high school, as well as middle school level.  She has served on various state level committees that provided her the opportunity to be a voice among fellow educators, as well as to be a catalyst for change in developing lessons and curriculum that would inspire and encourage students to understand and love history. Mrs. Gonzales is a strong advocate for the public school system, as well as the public school student, and finds time to give back to her heritage by serving on several local historical commissions and boards that focus on preserving and sharing Kendall County and Texas Hill Country history. Her teaching assignments have included 11th grade US History, 10th grade World History, 7th grade Pre-AP/On-Level Texas History, as well as 8th grade Pre-AP/On-Level American History.  Mrs. Gonzales has been chosen Teacher of the Year on two separate occasions, as well as having the honor of being named the VFW Post 688 Teacher of the Year for 2019.

Mrs. Gonzales and her husband enjoy spending time with their three children, Kyrstan (27), Ben (17), and Gage (15),  and can be found cheering them on at sporting events or stock shows, as well as hiking, zip lining, white water rafting, or any other adventurous thing they can think up. Traveling, both abroad as well as stateside, is Mrs. Gonzales' favorite thing to do....and meeting people and hearing their stories is her second favorite thing to do.
