Mrs. Dana Riggs
Mrs. Riggs is beginning her twelfth year of teaching in 2018-2019 at Cibolo Creek Elementary. Her professional life began as a certified court reporter, working in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, from 1993 to 2001. She then returned to school and graduated from McNeese State University, Lake Charles, Louisiana, in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education.
Mrs. Riggs' education journey began in Louisiana, where she taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ELAR. She then moved to southeast Texas and taught 4th grade ELAR for two years.
In 2010, Mrs. Riggs' family relocated to Boerne. Initially, she taught 5th grade ELA at Cibolo Creek Elementary for one year and then taught 5th grade reading for three years. Her desire to grow and learn as an educator led her to 2nd grade at CCES for two years. In 2016, she returned to 5th grade -- this time to teach science. By the end of 2018, Mrs. Riggs had taught not only 5th grade science, but also math and social studies. Needless to say, she considers herself a lifelong learner who thrives in an everchanging environment.
Mrs. Riggs has been married to her husband for 26 years. She and Travis have two children, Garrett (19) and Lauren (17). Besides reading and traveling, Mrs. Riggs enjoys spending time with her family, including her furry children -- a Basset hound and three cats.
