Mrs. Lisa Register
Mrs. Register is new to Boerne ISD and Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary, but not to the teaching profession. This year will round out 15 years of teaching primarily 3rd and 4th grades. Texas Lutheran University was her choice for her undergraduate studies, and after spending five years in the field of jounalism at the Citizen and working as an FM deejay, Mrs. Register answered a call to teach. After completing additional university hours from Our Lady of the Lake, she began teaching 3rd grade for Northside ISD. Mrs. Register then took time away from work to begin a family. She has two adult children, Lauren and Blake, and two granddaughters, Madison and Stevi. While home raising children, she earned her masters in curriculum and instruction from UTSA and her real estate license. Mrs. Register and her husband - now retired - moved to GA. Living in the mountains of Blue Ridge, is what she considers to have been one of the highlights in her life. She taught five years there with GA certification. All roads lead home, so they say, and Mrs. Register and her husband, Ted, their doxiepoo, and 22 lb.cat moved back to Texas settling in the Waco area following next with a move to the Bastrop/Elgin/McDade area. Finally, as God would see it, she came to roost in familiar home turf - the TX Hill Country. Mrs. Register is so proud of her new school and its students and parents.
Mrs. Register loves attending plays - especially musicals, spending time with her granddaughters, traveling, shopping, baking yummy things, catching up with friends, reading for pleasure, eating out, and just chilling at home. She's also a storyteller who shares her love of books and reading. She can make up some real whoppers too! She aspires to encourage her students to come to know writing and reading as a natural extention of themselves - just a part of who they are as terrific future citizens full of hope, encouragement, kindness, and love of all things human. Learning has always been important to Mrs. Register, and she sees herself as a leading, yet nurturing part of children's lives. She takes pride in always being available to her students and their parents. "I'd drop everything for the needs of a chld," is how she'd sum it up.
There seems to be nothing but great adventure and meaningful moments to be had at Fair Oaks, and Mrs. Register is grateful every day to know that she's with family at the best elementary school ever!
