Dr. Matthew Blake is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Spanish and Latin American studies. During his undergraduate work, he studied abroad at the National University of Panama. Following a sense of calling to influence the lives of young people and with a great passion for languages, cultures, and history, he then began a career in education, serving as a Spanish and History teacher, head cross country coach, and asistant track coach. After earning a master's degree in educational leadership, he then served as a High School Principal for ten years in Puerto Rico, El Salvador, and Honduras in international schools sponsored by the U.S. State Department. Dr. Blake then returned to the United States, where he earned a doctorate in educational leadership at Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee, while serving as a Middle School Principal. After returning to his home state of Texas, Dr. Blake served in Episcopal school leadership for several years before returning to public school education. He is proud to follow in the footsteps of his father, Colonel Phillip Blake, who after a lengthy Army career, taught English under Principal Sam Champion at Boerne High School. Dr. Blake is married to Mrs. Anna Blake, a counselor in the NEISD, and the father of three children, Maria, Dillon, and Andrew.
