Freeman Family Donates Geological Artifacts

Karen Freeman was an Earth Science Teacher at Boerne MS and then at Boerne MS South when it opened. She passed away in 2006 at 47 after a battle with cancer. Paul Freeman was a Geologist who collected a variety of rock samples through field studies, his travel in all over the world including the Southwest, and trade. His life collection of rocks includes Fossils, Petrified Wood, Wulfenite, Mineral Rocks, and more. Mr. Freeman recently passed away. Both studied Geology at Redlands University.

A few weeks ago, Dr. Hinojosa and his son crossed paths with the Freemans through an estate sale for the late couple and today, their daughter Kristina Griffin, came to campus with family friends Sue and Rick Cox to donate their collection to Voss Middle School.
Daughter Kristina Griffin, who traveled from San Angelo shared, “Donating to the school makes our parent’s work full circle and what my they would have wanted. This collection will continue to educate the next generation and my sister Kimberly and I are humbled to be able to do this. We know that Voss Middle School students will be great stewards of this collection.”

We are honored to get to carry on the legacy of the Freemans at Voss. What a small world full of beautiful connections!
