Middle School South and Future Voss Teacher Selected for Texas Leadership Fellowship

Boerne, Tx- Boerne Middle School South and future Voss Middle School Teacher, Alanna Blomquist, has been named one of only 25 teachers in the state for a Texas OnCourse Leader Fellowship. 

The Texas OnCourse Fellows represent all 20 education regions throughout Texas and are recognized as leaders in the college and career advising field. Leader Fellows will boost state efforts toward college and career success by connecting educators, parents, and students to a college career, and military readiness resources supporting professional growth and learning and improving state tools for college and career preparedness.

“The individuals selected as Leader Fellows are some of the most committed and passionate counselors, advisers, and teachers in the state,” said Laura Brennan, Director of Texas OnCourse. “They change the lives of their students every day. Now, as Texas OnCourse Leader Fellows, they will help transform college and career planning in Texas.”

A little more about Mrs. Blomquist, she began her teaching career as a student teacher at Boerne High School in Spring 2012. Following her positive experience at BHS, she sought out teaching positions in Boerne ISD and accepted a Social Studies position at Boerne Middle School South for the 2012-2013 school year. She is now entering her seventh year in teaching at BMSS.

Mrs. Blomquist has a B.A. in History with a concentration in Political Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Schreiner University. Originally from Canyon Lake and a graduate of Smithson Valley High School, Mrs. Blomquist has called Boerne home for the last 7 years.
