New Principals Announced for 2019-2020 School Year

New Principals BOERNE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ANNOUNCES NEW PRINCIPALS FOR 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR

Daniel Owen from Boerne Middle School North will be principal at that campus, Matthew Myers from Boerne Middle School South will be principal at Curington Elementary, and Troy Latiolais from Fabra Elementary will be the principal at that campus.

The Boerne Independent School District announced at their Special Called Board Meeting Monday, May 13, three assistant principals in the district have been promoted to principal beginning in the Fall of 2019.

Boerne Middle School North’s, Daniel Owen, was chosen as principal for Boerne Middle School North.

“It’s an exciting time within BISD, and I look forward to collaborating with all stakeholders to build upon the strong foundation that has already been established at North,” said Owen who has been an assistant principal at the campus since 2015.

“My role was clearly defined from day one,” he said about his time with North’s current Principal Tommy Hungate. “Build relationships with students, staff, and parents and the rest will fall into place.”

Boerne Middle School South’s, Matthew Myers, was selected to lead Curington Elementary.

“It is a true honor and privilege to join the Curington family a school with rich traditions and strong community,” Myers said. I look forward to building relationships with the staff, students and families. I believe together we can build upon the success of what has been established at Curington Elementary.”

Troy Latiolais was selected as principal for Fabra Elementary where he was the assistant principal.

“The past two years at Fabra have been such a blessing with the relationships I have formed with students, staff, and parents and the academic accomplishments we have achieved as a campus,” Latiolais said. “I am so fortunate to be given the opportunity to continue to lead in the same community in which my own family lives.  Fabra is an incredible place to be, and I am ecstatic for all the wonderful things we will continue to achieve while keeping an emphasis on student relationships.”

An educator most recently at Leon Springs Elementary is stepping into Latiolais’ previous position, Sami Gillette was named the Assistant Principal at Fabra and brings 22 years of experience in education to the position.
