Boerne Independent School District Applauds Students And Staff For Consecutive Excellence On Texas Education Agency Accountability Rating

BISD earns second consecutive “A” rating from TEA for STAAR testing results as Superintendent reminds district to think beyond state testing when measuring student success

BOERNE, Tx- The Texas Education Agency released its state-wide Student Testing and Accountability ratings. The second-year the state has assigned letter grades to Texas districts after a law passed by the 85th Texas Legislature.

House Bill (HB) 22 established three domains for measuring the academic performance of districts and campuses: Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gaps.We Are Logo

Districts are assigned a rating from A through F, for overall performance, as well as for performance in each domain.

Boerne Independent School District received an overall grade of “A” for the second consecutive year of the rating system. Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Thomas Price, said he applauds the hard work by the district’s students and staff that led to this rating. Dr. Price said the district gets attention for this excellence in testing, but that the district prides itself on many accomplishments the letter grade does not reflect.

“The ratings do not measure the pride on our students’ faces when they overcome an obstacle in the classroom,” Dr. Price said. “Or the enjoyment when they perform in fine arts, the dedication of student-athletes or the wonder when they visit a museum,” he said. “Our district and its students are more than an ‘A’.

Dr. Price added, “We have wonderful students and a fantastic staff. I want to thank them for all their hard work. Boerne ISD is great because they are great!”

The district earned a grade of 94 which marked a two-point improvement to the 2018 grade of 92. This is also the first year the TEA assigned the A-F ratings to individual campuses.

Boerne ISD schools had five campuses receive an ‘A’ rating and five that received a ‘B’. If you would like more information on the individual campus ratings please contact the district’s Director of Communications, Jocelyn Durand at jocelyn.durand@boerneisd.net, or by calling, (830) 357-2170.
