During the staff appreciation event, "Cookies and Cocoa and Toy Drive" Boerne Independent School District held Wednesday, December 4, a MOUNTAIN of toys was donated to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office Blue Santa program.
District staff were asked to bring toys to the district's central office at the same time they picked up longevity stipends.
The response was overwhelming and it took a whole team of elves (Boerne Middle School North students) to help load everything into a moving truck the sheriff's office had to bring to load all the donations.
The sheriff's office explained how the toys will now go to an event their Blue Santa holds where parents in Kendall County who are struggling may pick-out toys for their children, are supplied wrapping tools like, paper and tape, and are then able to wrap the toys in their very own homes. This allows parents and their children an opportunity to experience a tradition so many take for granted.
All because of the extreme generosity of our teachers and staff.
