May 13, 2020- Boerne ISD has announced that John A. Ramirez has been named the new Director of Transportation. Ramirez’ appointment was approved by the Board of Trustees at the Special Meeting/Budget Workshop on May 11th. Ramirez will start at Boerne ISD by the end of the month.
Ramirez joins Boerne ISD after two years as the Assistant Director of Transportation at Northside ISD. His previous positions were two years as the Director of Transportation and one year as the Transportation Coordinator at Uvalde C.I.S.D. He has served on the Executive Committee for the Central Texas Association for Pupil Transportation for three years and is currently the President. He is a Certified Texas Association for Pupil Transportation Official and serves as a Professional Development Committee Alternate. He is also an active member of the National Association for Pupil Transportation.
Ramirez began his career in school transportation after 22 years in the United States Army. He has served in various leadership positions for most of his military career. His military duties covered a wide range of jobs starting as a Multiple Launch Rocket System Crewmember and ultimately culminating as a senior leader in Human Resources prior to his retirement.
He is married to Angela C. Ramirez, has three children (Mario, Secilia, and Sofia), and four grandchildren in Oklahoma. Mario and Secilia reside in Oklahoma where they are carving their own path in life and Sofia is stuck listening to his dad jokes in San Antonio.
