Boerne ISD Names New Kendall Principal

Livas May 19, 2020- Boerne ISD announced that Shelene Livas has been named the new principal of Kendall Elementary School. Livas’ appointment was approved by the Board of Trustees at their regular monthly meeting on May 18th. Livas will officially start at Kendall in July. 

Ms. Livas joins the Boerne ISD family from Houston, TX where she served the past two years as the principal of Ketelsen Elementary School in Houston ISD. Her educational career includes 21 years of service devoted to creating rich learning opportunities for students and helping teachers develop their craft. During that time, she has worked as a campus principal, assistant principal, interdisciplinary instructional coach, instructional specialist, and bilingual teacher.

Her educational background has afforded her opportunities to work with diverse groups of people. Ms. Livas’ educational philosophy is rooted in the belief that all students can succeed given effective instruction, an encouraging learning environment, and essential social-emotional support.  She also believes that the home-school connection and community support must be continuously fostered to ensure healthy relationships to sustain Kendall’s growing community.   

Ms. Livas earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the Ohio State University, a master’s degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston, and a REEP Business Fellowship for School Leaders from Rice University.
