Two Boerne ISD Elementary Schools Nominated for National Award

Showcase Schools February 24, 2021- Boerne ISD is proud to announce that Curington Elementary and Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary have been selected by The Flippen Group as Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools nominees for the 2020-21 school year. Curington and Fair Oaks are two of just 339 schools in the United States to receive this recognition. The winning schools will be announced in April.

“Having two schools nominated as National Showcase Schools is a great honor, not only for Curington and Fair Oaks Ranch, but for Boerne ISD as well,” said Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price. “Both CES and FORES realize that caring relationships are the first step to academic success for our students. This recognition confirms what we already know, that we have the best teachers and students in Texas. Congratulations to Principals Matt Myers and Jessica Shults, and everyone at Curington and Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary,” Price stated.

Boerne Elementary first opened its doors in 1976, and was named Curington Elementary in 1986. Curington has a current enrollment of 614 students.

“To receive this national recognition is an honor that is shared by everyone in the Curington family,” Curington Principal Matt Myers said. “Everyone from our staff, to our students and parents helped contribute to this award. Every single staff member intentionally builds connections with students, families, and each other on a daily basis, which has created a very positive culture at Curington,” said Myers.

Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary, which has already been named a National Showcase School two years in a row, first opened in 1995 and now serves a total of 688 students who reside in parts of Kendall, Comal, and Bexar counties.

“Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary has a rich tradition of student and staff success, said Fair Oaks Ranch Principal Jessica Shults. We are honored to once again be recognized as a National Showcase School nominee. Our students, parents, and staff go above and beyond every single day to ensure we continuously enrich our FORES family and our community. Thank you to everyone involved in helping us achieve this honor,” Shults said.

Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School awardees are evaluated and selected based on survey and performance data from administrators, teachers, staff, and students. Decreases in discipline referrals, as well as positive campus culture and climate, are common themes among the data from awarded campuses.
