National Showcase SchoolApril 21st, 2021- Boerne ISD is proud to announce that Curington Elementary and Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary have been selected by The Flippen Group as Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools for the 2020-21 school year. Curington and Fair Oaks are two of just 325 schools in the United States to receive this recognition.

“We are extremely proud that both Curington and Fair Oaks Elementary Schools have been named National Showcase Schools,” said Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price. “Having two of our schools earn this award, especially in a pandemic year, is truly incredible. Our administration and teachers at both Curington and Fair Oaks realize that caring relationships are the first step to academic success for our students. This recognition confirms what we already know, that we have the best teachers and students in Texas. Congratulations to Principals Matt Myers and Jessica Shults, and everyone at Curington and Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary,” Dr. Price stated.

Boerne Elementary first opened its doors in 1976, and was named Curington Elementary in 1986. Curington has a current enrollment of 614 students.

“To receive this nationwide recognition is an honor that is shared by everyone in the Curington family,” Curington Principal Matt Myers said. “Everyone from our staff, to our students and parents helped contribute to this award. Every single staff member intentionally builds connections with students, families, and each other on a daily basis, which has created a very positive culture at Curington,” said Myers.

Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary, which has now been named a National Showcase School three years in a row, first opened in 1995 and now serves a total of 688 students who reside in parts of Kendall, Comal and Bexar counties.

“Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary has a rich tradition of student and staff success, said Fair Oaks Ranch Principal Jessica Shults. We are honored to once again be recognized as a National Showcase School. Our students, parents, and staff go above and beyond every single day to ensure we continuously enrich our Fair Oaks Ranch family and our community. Thank you to everyone involved in helping us achieve this honor,” Shults said.

National Showcase Schools are chosen annually through a rigorous selection process that includes measuring key performance indicators, gathering campus data, and surveying staff and students. The results represent the implementation of CKH processes as well as the culture and climate on each campus. Capturing Kids’ Hearts celebrates campuses where educators are exceeding expectations and creating an environment where students feel safe, connected, and eager to learn. This year’s selection process began with 555 campuses and resulted in 325 awardees.
