Boerne ISD Names New Assistant Principals

AP'sJune 14th, 2021- The Boerne Independent School District has named three new Assistant Principals, Omar Cantu (Boerne High School), Kimberly Stewart (Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary), and Kimberly Simmons (Cibolo Creek Elementary). The appointments were approved by the Board of Trustees at the Special Meeting/Budget Workshop on June 14th.

“We are very excited about our new Assistant Principals. They will bring innovation and experience into their new roles at Boerne ISD,” said Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price. “We are proud that we are promoting current members of the BISD family to Assistant Principals. They have built positive relationships with our students, staff, and families, and will be able to expand those relationships in their new roles, said Price. 

Mr. Cantu comes to Boerne High School after serving as the Principal at Pearsall High School during the 2020-21 school year. Prior to that, he was an Assistant Principal at Brazosport High School (2016-19) and Cypress High School (2019-20). Mr. Cantu previously taught Science and Physical Education for 10 years before becoming an administrator. 

“We are fortunate to bring Omar into our district and will look forward to welcoming him to our family,'' stated Price. “Omar will be a wonderful addition to Boerne ISD.”

Mrs. Stewart was the Interim Assistant Principal at Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary during the 2020-21 school year, and has been with Boerne ISD since 2007. From 2007-2018 Mrs. Stewart taught Art and several grade levels at Fair Oaks Ranch. She served as Van Raub Elementary’s Art Teacher from 2018-2020, where she was named the Teacher of the Year in 2018-19.

Mrs. Simmons was the Interim Assistant Principal at Cibolo Creek Elementary during the 2020-21 school year. She will enter her third year there this fall. Mrs. Simmons has worked in education for 21 years and has served as a general education teacher, reading interventionist, and special education teacher for grades K-5.

“Assistant Principals serve a very important role on our campuses, and this new group will do an outstanding job for our students, parents, and staff” Price said. “We are thrilled for our new Assistant Principal’s and their families.”
