Boerne ISD Names Principals, Assistant Principals

Principals, APJuly 13th, 2021- The Boerne Independent School District has announced several new Principals and Assistant Principals. The new Principals are Jamie Robinson at Boerne Middle School South, Summer Gault at Van Raub Elementary School, and Beth Miller at Herff Elementary School. New Assistant Principals are Triana Fontecha (BMSS), Michael Joannou (VRES), Katie Miller (Herff), and Dayna Comley (Curington). The appointments were approved at the Boerne ISD special board meeting on July 13th. 

“We are extremely pleased with our new Principals and Assistant Principals. We are also proud that we have promoted most of them from within Boerne ISD, showing the strong crop of leaders we have in our district,” said Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price. “They understand and value our culture. Our new administrators have built relationships with our students, staff, and parents, and will no doubt improve on that in their new roles. They will bring a wealth of experience and innovation to their campuses. We are happy for them and their families,” Price stated.

New Boerne Middle School South Principal Jamie Robinson has been in Boerne ISD for six years, including the last three as Principal at Van Raub Elementary. Prior to becoming the first-ever Principal at Van Raub, Mr. Robinson, an educator for over 20 years, started as Assistant Principal, and then was Principal at Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary School from 2015-2017. He has been nominated for the HEB Excellence in Education Principal award. Before moving to Boerne ISD, Mr. Robinson served as an Assistant Principal at Walzem Elementary (Northeast ISD) and Bradford Elementary (San Angelo, TX).

Summer Gault, new Van Raub Elementary School Principal, has served Boerne ISD for seven years, including the last four as Assistant Principal at Boerne Middle School South. Prior to that role, Mrs. Gault was the Assistant Principal at Fabra Elementary from 2014-2017. She has nearly 25 years of education experience, and was the 2008-2009 Timberwood Park Elementary Teacher of the Year in Comal ISD. 

New Herff Elementary School Principal Beth Miller, who has been in education for over 20 years, has served as the Assistant Principal at Herff since its opening two years ago. She began in Boerne ISD as the Assistant Principal at Cibolo Creek Elementary from 2016-2018 before becoming Head of School/Principal at Crestmont Christian Preparatory Academy from 2018-2019. Prior to her time in Boerne, Mrs. Miller was an educator in Florida, including serving as Principal at North Country Charter School in Vero Beach, FL. She was named the 2019 Region 20 Assistant Principal of the Year. 

Mrs. Fontecha, new Boerne Middle South Assistant Principal, has been an educator for 30 years, including the last six as an Assistant Principal. She previously served as Assistant Principal at Ridgemont Elementary (Fort Bend ISD, 2015-17), Morton Ranch Junior High (Katy ISD, 2017-19), and Katy Junior High (Katy ISD, 2019-2021). Mrs. Fontecha has also held several ESL (English as Second Language) positions, including ESL Program Facilitator. During her time teaching, she was named District Elementary Teacher of the Year and Campus Teacher of the Year, both at Sharyland ISD. 

New Van Raub Elementary School Assistant Principal Michael Joannou has been with Boerne ISD since 2017. During the 2020-21 school year he was the Instructional Coach at Herff Elementary School. From 2017-2020, Mr. Joannou taught at Cibolo Creek Elementary School, where he also served as Grade Level Chair and Administrative Intern. Prior to moving to the United States, Mr. Joannou taught elementary school in London, England. 

Katie Miller, new Herff Elementary School Assistant Principal, has been in Boerne ISD for three years. Most recently, Mrs. Miller served as the Math Intervention Teacher at Kendall Elementary School during the 2020-21 school year. Prior to that, from 2018-2020 she was a 4th-grade teacher at Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary. Mrs. Miller has been a teacher of the year nominee all three years she has taught in Boerne ISD. Before joining Boerne ISD, she taught in Fredericksburg ISD from 2011-2015.

New Curington Assistant Principal Dayna Comley has been a teacher for 15 years, including the last four at Boerne Middle School North. She has taught ELAR (English Language Art and Reading), as well as 6th grade Student Leadership, and 7th grade College and Career Readiness.Prior to moving to Boerne, Mrs. Comley taught ELAR in Oklahoma at the middle school level, and started her career teaching 4th grade in Houston.

Boerne ISD opens the 2021-22 school year on August 11th.
