Boerne ISD Earns State's Highest Fiscal Accountability Rating

Superior RatingSeptember 20, 2021- The Boerne Independent School District received a Superior Rating with an overall score of 92 in the 2020-21 Texas Education Agency Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). The “Superior Achievement” rating is the state’s highest, demonstrating the quality of Boerne ISD’s financial management and reporting system. This is the 10th straight year Boerne ISD has achieved the Superior Rating.

Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price stated, “We are extremely proud to once again receive the state’s highest fiscal accountability rating, especially in a year that we were dealing with COVID. We work hard to ensure that we do our due diligence as it relates to taxpayer money, and are very careful with how we spend that money. ”

The rating is based on an analysis of the district’s financial data for the fiscal year 2020.

“We have a stellar reputation not only in our community but across the state as a very fiscally responsible district,” said Price. “Our Chief Financial Officer Wes Scott does an outstanding job in leading our district from the financial side, and our Board of Trustees sets a great example of what it means to be fiscally responsible,” Price said.

The FIRST ratings are calculated using 15 financial indicators, such as administrative cost expenditures; the accuracy of a district or charter’s financial information submitted to TEA; and any financial vulnerabilities or material weaknesses in internal controls as determined by an external auditor.

“As we continue to experience record-breaking growth and student enrollment we will continue to be great stewards of taxpayer money going forward,” said Price. We have built up a lot of trust with the community and we appreciate their strong support.”
