Boerne Education Foundation Awards $152,500 in Teacher Innovation Grants
November 15, 2021- The Boerne Education Foundation awarded $152,500 in Teacher Innovation Grants to over 100 educators across all Boerne ISD schools. In all, 92 grants were funded, with staff members surprised with the news of their grant Friday with a big check announcement at each campus.
Teachers completed an online application at the beginning of the school year and the grants are awarded before Thanksgiving with the intent to have the grants in the classroom by January. The grants are reviewed and awarded in a blind process by committee members of the Boerne Education Foundation board. The grants enable teachers to purchase necessary classroom supplies to promote innovative teaching through critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.
“Each year the Boerne Education Foundation is honored to present our hard-working teachers with grants that will impact student learning,” said Yvette Reyna, Executive Director of the Boerne Education Foundation. “Our teachers are well-deserving of the grants. We are excited to see the positive impact they make in the classroom with our students. Thank you to our generous donors and to the community for your support, Reyna said.
Boerne High School and Boerne Middle School South led the way with 12 grants each, with Boerne Middle School North garnering 10, along with Champion High School receiving nine.
The remaining grants by school were: Kendall (8), Van Raub (8), Curington (6), Herff (6), Voss (5), Fair Oaks Ranch (5), Central Office (3), Cibolo Creek (1).
