Boerne AP Students Recognized For Success

Boerne High SchoolJanuary 21, 2021- Two Boerne High School Advanced Placement Program (AP) Students have had their articles selected to be published in the Journal for Student Research. Georgia Busbee and Allison Clark’s work will be displayed in the Journal, which has published articles from 1,500 students at over 400 schools across the globe.

Busbee is publishing "The Effects of Psychological Techniques on the Performance of High School Varsity Tennis Players”, while Clark is publishing "COVID-19 Business Impact Review”.

Busbee's study explored the impact of psychological techniques on the performance of high school varsity tennis players. She introduced audio-visual stimuli to the tennis team warm-up and compared serving accuracy before and after completing the session, then had players complete a self-assessed questionnaire. Her study suggested that both gender and player personalities influence how psychological techniques impact athletic performance.

Clark’s study analyzed the impact of COVID-19 on local businesses by comparing their sizes and industries. She observed the greatest negative effect on small service industry businesses and the least impact on medium merchandising businesses. Her study provided insights into which businesses are potentially more vulnerable to unforeseen situations.

Both Busbee and Clark also earned the AP Capstone diploma by completing AP Seminar, AP Research, and at least four other AP classes.
