Boerne ISD Officially Opens Ag Barn

Ag Barn ribbon cuttingAugust 5, 2022- The Boerne Independent School District, along with The Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce, held a ribbon cutting on Friday to officially open the district’s Ag Barn and Animal Science Center.

BISD has partnered with the Kendall County Fair Association (KCFA) to lease the Ag Barn at the Fairgrounds on HWY 46, which will be accessible to all district students.

The ribbon cutting was well attended, with over 60 individuals in attendance, including Boerne and Champion High School Ag students and Teachers, as well as representatives from the Fair, Jr. Livestock, and FFA associations.

Boerne High School Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor, Kathleen Young, will serve as Boerne ISD’s Ag Barn Manager.

“We are excited about continuing to honor our community’s strong agricultural heritage,” said Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price. “The rich agricultural history of Boerne, Fair Oaks Ranch, and Kendall County is simply amazing, and we look forward to the future by using this incredible facility for our students at all grade levels,” Dr. Price said.

The district is extremely grateful for the KCFA's generosity and especially for KCFA President Shane Boerner and 1st Vice President Billy Shussler. This is only possible because of their leadership and vision.

BISD also thanks the Kendall County Junior Livestock Association and its President Joe Lozano, all our Agricultural Science and Technology teachers at Boerne and Champion High schools, and all of the FFA and 4-H parents who have provided their valuable guidance and advice. Our continued collaborative efforts will make this a great success for the school district and community.
