Boerne ISD Names Goodrich Chief of Safety and Security

Rick GoodrichAugust 16, 2022- The Boerne Independent School District has announced that Boerne resident Rick Goodrich has been named Chief of Safety and Security. Goodrich’s appointment was announced at Monday’s Board of Trustees meeting.

 

Goodrich will oversee the BISD Safety and Security Department, which includes 12 School Resource Officers, one designated for each campus. 

 

Goodrich, a Supervisory Special Agent (SSA), has 22 years of law enforcement investigative experience with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), as well as 22 years of distinguished military service with the United States Air Force. SSA Goodrich most recently served as the supervisor for the San Antonio Texas Anti-Gang Initiative (TAG), which is a multi-agency unit comprised of representatives from eight separate agencies which include, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and more. 

 

Goodrich also managed Special Agents assigned to the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, DHS/HSI, and San Antonio Police Department Narcotics Unit. 

 

He was also the Commander of the DEA Houston Divisions Special Response Team (SRT), and is certified as a FEMA Incident Commander and NIMS Coordinator for the Department of Justice. 

 

Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price stated, “The safety of our students, staff, and visitors has always been our top priority. When selecting a Chief of Safety and Security, Rick stood out due to his vast expertise, skill set, and knowledge. Fortunately, we had a lot of very well-qualified individuals apply for this position, but we believe Rick to be the best fit to meet the needs of our student and staff safety.”

 

Goodrich served 22 years in the United States Airforce and retired in December 2012 as the Commander of the 118th Security Forces Squadron. Major Goodrich supervised a 77-person unit that specialized in force protection, base security, and anti-terrorism. 

 

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Middle Tennessee State University, as well as the Air Force Command and Staff College. 

 

Throughout his career, Goodrich responded to multiple critical incidents, including on 9/11 at the World Trade Center.

 

Dr. Price continued, “Rick has worked extensively with local law enforcement in Boerne and Fair Oaks Ranch, as well as Kendall, Bexar and surrounding counties, and state and federal agencies. He recently attended Law Enforcement Training that we hosted at our campuses, and has begun to assess our safety needs with our campus administration.

Goodrich and his wife Heather have a daughter, Maddie, who attends Boerne High School and is the Co-Captain of the Cheer Squad.
