Boerne ISD Announces Campus Teacher, Rookie, and Support Staff of the Year

January 23, 2023- The Boerne Independent School District has announced the 2023 campus Teacher, Rookie, and Support Staff of the Year winners. The recipients were surprised with the news on their campuses by Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price. Nominations are solicited from each campus, with the nominees being voted on by campus staff. toy

As the campus winner, each Teacher ($1,000), Rookie ($500), and Support Staff ($500) of the Year will receive a stipend from Boerne ISD. Campus winners are also placed into the running to be selected to represent the district as 2023 Boerne ISD Teacher of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Support Staff of the Year. The District Teacher of the Year will receive a $10,000 check from Toyota of Boerne, as well as a $1,500 stipend from Boerne ISD.

Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price stated, “Each year we honor the excellence of our hard-working staff members when we name the Teacher, Rookie, and Support Staff of the Year winners. 

The winners selected by their peers once again epitomize the very best of Boerne ISD. We are extremely proud of each and every one of the campus winners and are happy for their families as well.”

The 2023 Boerne ISD Campus Teachers of the Year are:

  • Camille Robinson, AP Statistics and ALG 1 Teacher, Boerne High School

  • Chris Prince, English I Honors and AP English III Teacher, Champion High School

  • Rachel Bunker, 6th Grade Math Teacher, Boerne Middle School North

  • Brook Taylor, 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher, Boerne Middle School South

  • Stacie Murrah, 8th Grade College and Career Readiness Teacher, Voss Middle School

  • Meggie Smiley, 4th Grade Reading and Social Studies Teacher, Cibolo Creek Elementary School

  • MariSol Lozano, 5th Grade Teacher, Curington Elementary School

  • Margaret Palacios, 3rd Grade Teacher, Fabra Elementary School

  • Sarah Borgerding, Kindergarten Teacher, Fair Oaks Ranch Elementary School

  • Candace Warder, Special Education Inclusion/Resource Teacher, Herff Elementary School

  • Susan Trizinsky, 5th Grade Science Teacher, Kendall Elementary School

  • Ashley Maytum, 1st Grade Teacher, Cibolo Creek Elementary School

  • Kimberly Salinas, 2nd Grade Teacher, Curington Elementary School

Dr. Price continued, “I truly admire and appreciate these educators for creating learning environments where our students feel loved, supported and challenged to achieve at the highest level.  If you want to see why Boerne ISD has a great reputation, all you have to do is visit any of their classrooms.

Their hard work and dedication to Boerne ISD students does not go unnoticed and we cannot thank them enough for all they do to help our district shine.”

The 2023 District Teacher of the Year will be revealed at the Boerne Education Foundation’s Rock On Fundraiser set to take place on March 4th, while the 2023 Rookie and District Support Staff of the Year will be announced at the March 27th Boerne ISD Board of Trustees meeting.
