BOERNE, Tx- The Boerne Independent School District has hired two department coordinators during the first month of the district’s summer break. The first, a Fine Arts Coordinator, is an example of BISD’s commitment to nurturing arts in public education.

Kenneth Peach, the new Fine Arts Coordinator, is currently the Director of Fine Arts for the Victoria Independent School District. Mr. Peach has a long history of leading fine art programs in Texas schools and has acted as a director of fine arts for the last decade.

Mr. Peach holds both a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Secondary Education and has taught in a fine arts capacity for the entirety of his career. In a statement Mr. Peach said he is looking forward to settling in a community that values outstanding public education and arts programs.

Boerne ISD’s Fine Arts program has been growing as the district grows, and this position will help navigate the direction of this program.

Along with a new Fine Arts Coordinator, BISD recently hired a Social Studies Coordinator to oversee Social Studies instruction and activities for the district.

Bret Bunker is currently the Social Studies Department Chair for Boerne High School.  Mr. Bunker has taught Social Studies for the district since 2006, receiving the Teacher of the Year for Boerne High School in 2015. He holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from A&M University and a Post Baccalaureate Teacher Certificate in History from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Both positions are fulfilling a need in the district to support different specialized departments in an organized direction.
