Boerne ISD Names New Principals

PrincipalsMay 16, 2022- The Boerne Independent School District has named new Principals at two elementary campuses. Current Curington Elementary Principal Matt Myers will serve as Principal of Elementary School #8, while Talia Hernandez will replace Myers as Curington Principal. The appointments were approved at the Boerne ISD Board of Trustees meeting on May 15th. 

 

Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price stated, “This is an exciting time for Boerne ISD to welcome extraordinary Principals to Elementary #8 and Curington. Matt and Talia are exemplary leaders and will have a positive impact on their new campuses. We look forward to watching Curington  and our newest elementary school thrive in the future.”

 

Mr. Myers has served as the Principal at Curington since 2019. He previously served as an Assistant Principal at Boerne Middle School South (2016-2019) and Kendall Elementary (2011-2015). Prior to becoming an administrator, he taught 4th and 6th grade at Schanen Estates Elementary in Corpus Christi and Kendall Elementary in BISD, respectively. 

 

Mr. Myers is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University Corpus Christi where he earned his bachelor's and master’s degrees.

 

He will assist the district in the planning of Elementary School #8, which is scheduled to open in August of 2024. 

 

Mrs. Hernandez, the new Curington Principal, has been an educator for 18 years. Her most recent experience has been serving as the principal of Evers Elementary in Northside ISD for eight years. Prior to this, she served as a bilingual teacher, school counselor, and associate principal in Northside ISD. She started her teaching career in Harlandale ISD as a bilingual teacher.

 

Mrs. Hernandez graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio where she earned her Bachelor’s in Business and a Master’s in Counseling. She is also a graduate of Lamar University where she received a Master’s in Educational Leadership. Currently, she is working on her doctorate in School Improvement through the University of Texas at Tyler.

 

She will start at Curington in the 2023-24 school year, which will begin on Thursday, August 10th.
