About the 2025 VATRE
A Voter Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) allows school districts to seek voter approval to access additional funding for day-to-day operations such as teacher salaries, academic programs, classroom materials, and facility upkeep.
The 2025 Boerne ISD VATRE would increase the district’s tax rate by two cents from $0.9909 to $1.0109. If approved, the district would receive an estimated $4.8 million annually — for every $1.00, an additional $0.60 comes from the state.
The new funding is NOT subject to recapture.
100% will stay in Boerne ISD.

Boerne ISD has one of the lowest teacher pay scales in the region. Almost 1 in 5 teachers left Boerne ISD last year, many for better paying jobs.
This proposal would provide competitive salaries to retain and attract highly qualified staff.
Prioritize Classroom Resources
Boerne ISD has already cut nearly $1.5 Million from its administrative budget through attrition and reorganization.
This proposal would allow the district to direct more resources toward program growth and classroom instruction.
Address Capital and Facility Needs
The district has only been able to meet the capital and facility needs by dipping into general fund balance or by leveraging bond savings.
This proposal would establish a capital replacement plan helping to keep facilities safe and up-to-date for all students and our community.
