Guidance Curriculum

Guidance Curriculum

The Boerne ISD Guidance Curriculum strives to help students develop their full educational potential, including the student's interests and career objectives. (TEC §33.005)

Four Guidance Curricular Content Areas:

Intrapersonal Effectiveness

Interpersonal Effectiveness

Post-Secondary Education and Career Readiness

Personal Health and Safety

Positive Character Traits

Boerne ISD believes in the ASCD Whole Child approach, which is "an effort to transition from a focus on narrowly defined academic achievement to one that promotes the long-term development and success of all children. We help educators, families, community members, and policymakers move from a vision about educating the whole child to sustainable, collaborative action." In the 2019-2020 school year, all BISD campuses from PK-12 implemented the Whole Child initiative. BISD counselors worked diligently to create a social/emotional curriculum that is now integrated across curricula at all academic levels. BISD's Great 8 Skills were developed and are taught quarterly over a period of 2 years.
