18+ Transitional Life Skills Program
Boerne ISD's 18+ Transitional Life Skills Program provides employment opportunities where students receive job experience and social skills with a Boerne ISD job coach.
The 18+ Transitional Life Skills student will go into a work environment and perform the same tasks as a paid employee with the support of their job coach. We partner with the Boerne community businesses to help students achieve their goals. Our goal is to provide a lifelong foundation towards the student's independence.
Students work with job coaches to develop and integrate job-specific skills, time management, social skills, and organization. Job coaches support students in the following ways:
- Assist students with initial introductions to job site supervisor and associated staff
- Facilitate student orientation to their work environment
- Ensure that the student worker & employer have clear expectations regarding the assigned tasks/duties
- Assist the student in social integration and self-advocacy skills
