Mrs. Merkens teaches 7th Grade Science at Boerne Middle School North. She is also the NJHS sponsor. Mrs. Merkens is beginning her fifth year at North and her 11th year in Boerne ISD. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Science from Sam Houston State University and has been teaching for 21 years.  10 out of the 20 years were spent teaching a wide range of High School science and coaching. Mrs. Merkens LOVES her job and enjoys helping children navigate the middle school years. 

In her time away from school, Mrs. Merkens enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 daughters, Mahaley, Ensley and Madelyn.  They stay busy traveling, teaching Sunday School, playing sports and spending time outdoors as much as possible.
