Mrs. Vanessa Ploetz
Mrs. Vanessa Ploetz has been teaching in Boerne at Kendall Elementary School for 22 years as a Special Education teacher. She holds a BA in Psychology and has previous experience of managing patient care and staff at an inpatient pediatric neuro-psychiatric facility’s acute care unit in San Antonio.
Mrs. Ploetz was awarded Kendall Elementary’s Teacher of the Year in 2014 and again in 2022. Her greatest passion in teaching is building relationships with students to facilitate their ability to take the risks needed to grow and learn, expanding their horizons.
The teaching Assistants in her classroom are Mrs. Jennye Smith, who has been a long-time support for students since 2006 in Mrs. Ploetz’s classroom and Mrs. Amber Werenskjold joined her classroom as a teaching assistant in 2022. These ladies bring great skills and a love of students to facilitate learning!
Class Daily recurring schedule events
SNACK: Students have snacks each day at 9:30am. Parents may send individual snacks or bulk snacks to share with the class. Students should bring a water bottle DAILY which will be sent home to be washed in student backpacks each day.
ENRICHMENT: Fourth grade group students attend CAMP enrichment classes at 8:45. Students attending enrichment with Second grade go to those classes at 9:40am. First grade students attend Enrichment at 1:10pm.
LUNCH & RECESS: Our students attend recess from 11:45- 12:05 and eat lunch from 12:05-12:35.
CONTACT: Mrs. Ploetz’s conference period is from 7:50m to 8:30am each day and she will be available for parent questions/phone contacts at 830-357-4657 during this time and after school daily.
Email is checked each morning by 7:05 am and again after school at 3:30pm.
