Mrs. Vanessa Ploetz
Mrs. Vanessa Ploetz has been teaching in Boerne at Kendall Elementary School for 17 years as a Special Education teacher. She holds a BA in Psychology and has previous experience in managing patient care and staff at an inpatient pediatric neuro-psychiatric facility’s acute care unit in San Antonio.
Mrs. Ploetz was awarded Kendall Elementary’s Teacher of the Year in 2014. Her greatest passion in teaching is building relationships with students to facilitate their ability to take the risks needed to grow and learn expanding their horizons.
Teaching Assistants in her classroom are Mrs. Jennye Smith, who has been a long-time support for students since 2006 in Mrs. Ploetz’s classroom and Mrs. Melissa Heathman joins her classroom as a teaching assistant in 2018 after teaching in another state & moving to Boerne. These ladies bring great support and experience to support students’ success!
Class Daily recurring schedule events
Students have snack each day at 9:20am. Parents may send individual snacks or bulk snacks to share with the class. Students should bring a water bottle weekly which will be sent home to be washed on Fridays.
Fourth grade students attend Enrichment classes at 8:25am. Fifth grade students attend Enrichment at 2:00pm.
Students enjoy recess daily at 11:20am prior to lunch at 11:40am.
Mrs. Ploetz’s conference period is from 7:45am to 8:20am each day and she will be available for parent questions/phone contacts at 830-357-4657 during this time and after school daily.
Email is checked each morning by 7:05 am and again after school at 3:30pm.
