Message from the Principal
Welcome! My name is Beto Hinojosa and it is an honor and privilege to serve as principal of Fabra Elementary. After graduating from Texas State University, San Marcos, I began my education career at Lake Travis ISD where I taught and coached for four years. After receiving my degree in Educational Leadership, also from Texas State, I moved to Damon ISD, a small community outside of Houston where I was hired to be a Principal/Athletic Director. That road led me to beautiful Boerne, where I have been for the last 9 years. Through that time, I have served as assistant principal at Boerne Middle School North (Go Greyhounds!), the district’s Title IX coordinator, and the best job in the world, principal at Fabra. While at North I was fortunate to have been selected as the 2016 Texas Assistant Principal of the Year as well as earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.
My wife Mariana serves our community as a Speech Language Pathology assistant and my beautiful son Liam, is in Pre-K at Fabra. We love to take road trips, play basketball, support the Spurs, and spend time at home with our pups and 80 pound Sulcata tortoise, Dino.
At Fabra Elementary School we are fully invested in providing our families with many opportunities to participate in their child’s education. Throughout the year, we will host a variety of different family nights that are sure to interest all! Please stay tuned for information on our Family Literacy Night, Science Fair Workshop, Technology Night, Family Movie Nights, Family Fitness Night and more. All of these events are organized by our amazing teachers and sponsored by our PTO.
One of our teachers recently sent me an article citing Boerne as one of the happiest towns in the United States. The article noted the hill country, proximity to a big city, parks, nature, and friendly people and businesses among the categories rated. The first thing that came to mind was the many reasons why Fabra is one of the happiest schools in the county. Last year our staff read The Happiness Advantage, by Shawn Achor. The book covers 7 principles of positive psychology that fuel success and performance. From the book’s many takeaways, a vital one for me was how student performance is linked to their happiness at school.
At Fabra, we are committed to continuing and improving our practices that fuel student’s happiness and engagement such as offering our students opportunities to be involved, providing hands on learning experiences, or recognizing them with special kudos for a job well done. Our goal is for every student to walk through our doors daily, excited about the learning that will take place.
It is an absolute pleasure serving this great school community and I look forward to a memorable year. Please frequent our website often for updates and events and find us on Facebook and Twitter!
I look forward to seeing you soon!
