Boerne ISD Hosts Groundbreaking Ceremony for Elementary #8

GroundbreakingJanuary 18, 2023- The Boerne Independent School District hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday officially signaling the start of construction on the district’s eighth elementary school.

BISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price, Board President Rich Sena, and David Bandy, owner of Bandy Constructors, spoke at the site of the future school, located in Corley Farms in the Southern portion of the district off Scenic Loop Road.

The Boerne/Champion JROTC Students served as the color guard, while the Champion Choir sang the national anthem to open the ceremony.

Dr. Price and the Board of Trustees shoveled the first pieces of dirt to officially open construction of the school.

In November 2022 the Boerne ISD Board of Trustees approved Bandy Constructors as the contractor to build Elementary School #8.

The Bandy Constructors bid totaled $36 million dollars at $365 per square foot, which was the lowest bid of any contractor and is the best value for Boerne ISD.

Other school districts in our area recently paid over $420 per square foot to build new schools.

Elementary #8 was approved by the voters in the Boerne ISD Bond Election in May 2022 and is scheduled to open in August 2024.
