March 27, 2023- The Boerne Independent School District is proud to announce that Boerne Middle School North Special Education Teacher Hannah Fairhurst has been named the 2023 District Rookie Teacher of the Year, while Fabra Elementary School Teaching Assistant Nareyda Norato has been named 2023 District Support Staff of the Year. The announcements were made at the March 27th BISD Board of Trustees Meeting. Both winners will receive additional stipends from Boerne ISD, as well as an additional $500 award from an anonymous sponsor.
Mrs. Fairhurst, the 2023 BISD Rookie Teacher of the Year, has been teaching at Boerne ISD since August 2020, with all three years spent at Boerne Middle School North. She currently teaches 6th-8th Grade Special Education Life Skills, where she has been awarded four different grants from the Boerne Education Foundation.
Mrs. Norato, the 2023 BISD Support Staff of the Year, currently serves as the Fabra 5th Grade Dual Language Teaching Assistant. She is currently enrolled in the BISD Elevate Program, which is designed to transform existing educational aides into certified teachers and is a pathway for educators who have been employed with Boerne ISD as a paraprofessional for at least one year.
Earlier in March BISD announced the 2023 District Teacher of the Year and Runner Up, Boerne Middle School North’s Rachel Bunker (Teacher of the Year) and Boerne Middle School South’s Brook Taylor (Runner-Up).
