August 21, 2023- With safety being a top priority, the Boerne Independent School District has partnered with Hays Consolidated Independent School District to transport students in buses that are equipped with air conditioning.
Five current BISD buses are not equipped with air conditioning.
Hays CISD arranged for Boerne ISD to borrow five air-conditioned buses for one to two months until BISD completes the refurbishment of non-air-conditioned buses.
“We are extremely grateful to Hays CISD for allowing us to use their buses to transport our students during this extraordinary heat wave,” said Boerne ISD Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price. “The Safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. With the assistance of Hays CISD we are now able to transport students safely on air-conditioned buses. A sincere thank you to Hays CISD Superintendent, Dr. Eric Wright, and the Transportation Team for their show of kindness and support.”
The five Hays CISD buses started going out on routes on Friday afternoon.
BISD borrowed air-conditioned buses from an anonymous donor the previous week to transport students.
