  • Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Will teachers and their campuses remain anonymous on the application and/or video as they have been in past years?
A:  No, this year, since we are adding the option to add a video, it's perfectly fine to share your name(s) and campus in the written application and video.

Q: Where can I find the Approved Vendor Lists?

A: Go to boerneisd.net - Visit Business and Financial Services Department - Click Purchasing - Go to For Employees and Click the Master Coop List & RFP/RFQ Approved Vendor List.  Both of these lists have approved vendors.

Q:  What if I want to have students in the video? Is that okay?
A:   As long as you have email consent from the parent, you can add the student(s) in the video.

Q:  What items/experiences will not be funded?

A:  BEF will not fund field trips, speakers, professional development, and teacher training.

Q:  Can online subscriptions be funded?

A:  Yes, BEF will fund online subscriptions.

Q:  What exactly do the judges want to see in the video?
A:  Let your personality shine in the video.  The judges want to know how your grant will be used in your classroom.

Q:  Can I apply for several BEF Teacher Innovation Grants?
A:  Absolutely.  Just be sure they are on separate applications.  We've awarded multiple grants to the same teacher or team of teachers in the past.

Q:  What do I do if the vendor is not listed on the approved vendor list?
A:  Each year, BEF works in tandem with the BISD Purchasing Dept.  We do not want there to be a barrier for you to bring great ideas that align with TEKs into your classroom.  Please reach out to the Purchasing Dept. to seek advice about the vendor you would like to use.

Q:  Who do I email to get approval for a technology item(s)?
A:  Please email Jeremiah Dominguez Jeremiah.Dominguez@boerneisd.net or Anna Nieto Anna.Nieto@boerneisd.net .  They are in our Technology Dept.

    Hints & Tips

    • Your great idea can make an impact on your classroom, your grade level, your entire campus, or it might even be a districtwide game changer.
    • Show your passion for teaching in your video.  Maybe you may want to add a math garden, rockerty program, etc.
    • Talk to past Teacher Innovation Grant winners on your campus.  Ask for advice, because at the end of the day, every grant you win at your campus is a huge win for BISD students.

    Past Grants

In the 2022-2023 school year, 73 grants were awarded that totaled over $200,000 across all campuses. See past distributions here:

Grants have been funded to create many remarkable academic tools and experiences for students of BISD. Some past grants include software and technological materials, a Star Lab, DNA lab, microscopes, ecosystems, digital cameras, robotics, collaboration stations, art exhibits, geo mats and climbing walls for physical fitness, math and science “hands-on” experiences and numerous resources to use in the classroom.
