Mrs. Lindsay Burkey
Lindsay Burkey teaches AAVTC for Boerne ISD.
After receiving her degree in Kinesiology and Special Education from Texas A&M University in 1998, Burkey’s teaching career began at Clark High School where she taught Life Skills and coached JV Soccer. Burkey then taught English, World Geography, and Life Skills at Ronald Reagan High School.
Following the birth of her second daughter, Burkey took a sabbatical to stay at home with her family.
In 2008, Burkey joined Ferris Orthodontics as the Public Relations and Marketing Director. A favorite part of the eight years of working at Ferris Orthodontics was being able to use her teaching skills and creativity through technology and graphic design. Above all, working with the community, patients, doctors and staff was most rewarding. She worked with Boerne ISD students and staff through Ferris Orthodontics where she was in charge of coordinating and organizing the scoreboard videos for both Boerne ISD High Schools and Smithson Valley High School.
Burkey has been involved in many aspects in Boerne ISD through subbing and through her work with Champion Charger Track. Burkey began subbing for Boerne ISD in 2009 and then again in 2019 and enjoyed getting to know the the amazing students and teachers throughout the district.
As her children grew older and after surviving Breast Cancer in 2020, Burkey realized she missed the opportunities to make a difference in the lives of students in the classroom. She believes in resilience and a growth mindset for herself and her students and is constantly looking for ways to improve professionally and personally. This summer, Mrs. Burkey worked hard and took many "Teach Adobe Courses". She is excited to implement what she learned in Teach Adobe: Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and Animate.
She and her husband, Russell, have three daughters, Reese (CHS Class of 2020), Riley (CHS Class of 2022), and Reagan (CHS Class of 2024).
