Boerne Welding Technology Competed at Skills USA State Competition
Boerne Welding Technology Competed at Skills USA State Competition with the Big Dipper pictured below and won it's 5th Straight State Championship along with its 5th Straight Overall State Championship.
For those of you that question what the Big Dipper is?
The Big Dipper is a Mobile Cattle Dipping Station designed and built for the United States Department of Agriculture. It will be going to work in the efforts to eradicate the Fever Ticks that have 1 ½ Million acres in South Texas under quarantine due to infestation on cattle herds. The trailer holds 2,200 gallons of water pesticide mix that the cattle are run through to kill the ticks. On a infested herd this process has to be done every 14 days for 9 months. This trailer enables the USDA to dip cattle in remote locations. This trailer is only one of seven in the world with a fifty year age gap between number six and this one. This trailer was designed from scratch working with the USDA to meet all of their needs with no blue prints supplied. The total accumulation of hours for this particular project was over 1200 hours of after school time. This makes the second project that Boerne Welding Technology has done for the United States Department Of Agriculture in its attempt to eradicate the Fever Ticks.
